Pirates Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
Arizona left fielder Joel Kunkler pounded Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers at PNC Park, but it was not enough to keep the Diamondbacks from falling, 9-8. Kunkler belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Pittsburgh reliever Walt Quinn, now 4-4. The loser was Stanford Placard. The first-place Pirates have won 5 in a row.

Pittsburgh won the game in the bottom of the 14th inning. With no outs and Stanford Placard on the mound for Arizona, left fielder Chris Salim hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Pirates fans to their feet.

"This place was electric at the end," Salim said.
