Phillies Come Up Short at New York, 3-2
|
Philadelphia got a decent performance from pitcher Phuck II, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Mets. New York won the Citi Field contest, 3-2. Phuck II threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Chris Thurner got the save, his 14th in 16 chances. The Phillies, at 41-71, have lost 5 in a row.
New York took a 3-2 lead on Kevin Bellman's 21st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Bellman hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Philadelphia pitcher Phuck II visibly frustrated.
"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Paul Husch.
