Cubs Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Dodgers
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago Cubs eventually prevailed.
The Chicago Cubs faced a tough opponent in Los Angeles pitcher John Bialon, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dodger Stadium by a final score of 6-5. Bialon went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Randy Budgell earned the win to go to 6-6. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Kanehisa Kubo to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cubs ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Kubo told the Chicago Gazette.
Chicago is now 58-58.
