Tigers Best Brewers in Pitching Duel
|
The Detroit Tigers topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-0, in American League action at Comerica Park. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Houston, Texas, native Caleb Franklin. Franklin got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 6.2 innings. Franklin allowed no runs. The win has Detroit at 46-71.
The Brewers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Tigers going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old second baseman Dave Reynolds came to the plate. Reynolds hit a solo home run on a first pitch curveball from Milwaukee hurler Dale Ahernfeld. It was Reynolds's 4th home run of the year.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Franklin. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
