The Atlanta Braves got a strong performance from pitcher Matthew Spurrell, who stymied the Baltimore offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Spurrell went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 16-3. Jeremy Kasten was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
Yasuhide Kasahara, the six-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kasahara contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Atlanta up, 3-2.
Spurrell told a Atlanta Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
