Pirates Take Down Cardinals, 3-2
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2. Starting pitcher Sam Richardson played a key role in the triumph. Pittsburgh reliever Jeremy Kennie picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. John Fisher took the loss. Ian Toney converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Jason Moss to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Pirates ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Pittsburgh manager Sam Mcg Pittsburgh.
The victory gives Pittsburgh a record of 69-65.
