Cardinals Score 4-2 Win Over Milwaukee
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a stellar performance from pitcher Mike Pemble, who handcuffed the Milwaukee offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Miller Park. The Cardinals now have a record of 72-63 with the win over Milwaukee.
The Brewers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old shortstop Klaas Meij came to the plate. Meij hit a run-scoring double on a full count sinker from Milwaukee hurler Mekonen Mahfudh. It was Meij's 8th double of the year.
After the game, St. Louis manager Jeff Jones Jr. applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
