Pirates Need Extra Innings to Top Mets, 2-1
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Jeff Jank to claim a 2-1 win at Citi Field. Jank went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The Mets, now 68-68, have lost 4 in a row.
Pittsburgh took a 2-1 lead on Xavier Pittman's 29th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Pittman hit in the top of the 16th, left New York pitcher Justin Overlie shaking his head.
"The vibe's good," said Pittsburgh manager Sam Mcg Pittsburgh. "We've got to keep it going."
