Royals Stay Hot, Beat Red Sox, 7-4
|
Kansas City picked up a win at Fenway Park, toppling the Boston Red Sox, 7-4. Pitcher Bryan Boykin was one of the reasons the Royals triumphed. The winning pitcher was Boykin, now 7-9. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The second-place Red Sox have dropped 4 straight games.
The Royals got a big at-bat from right fielder Roman Downey. For the game, Downey went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 30th double of the season gave Kansas City a 2-1 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Boykin told the Kansas City Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
