White Sox Top Tigers, 5-4
|
The White Sox grabbed a win, 5-4, at U.S. Cellular Field, overcoming a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Melvin Medellin. Medellin went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Chicago reliever Allen Speidel picked up the win to move to 9-0. Steve McGaughey suffered the loss. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the White Sox.
Chicago won the game in the bottom of the 16th inning. With no outs and Steve McGaughey on the mound for Detroit, catcher Leo Navarro hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing White Sox fans to their feet.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Navarro said.
