Athletics Turn Away Mariners, 5-4
|
In a close game at O.co Coliseum, the Oakland Athletics edged the Seattle Mariners, 5-4. Oakland first baseman Jason May stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Elijah Daniels converted his 27th save in 31 tries. The win puts Oakland at 76-70 this season.
With Oakland leading 3-2 in the bottom of the second, May hit a knuckle curve from Larry Tuckfard for a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 5-2.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," May said.
