Orioles Fall to Red Sox, 6-1
|
Starting pitcher Reece Nichols held up his part of the bargain, helping the Boston Red Sox stymie the Baltimore Orioles, 6-1. Nichols went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 16-9. The last-place Orioles have lost 5 straight games.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from right fielder Shoichi Aso. For the game, Aso went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Boston a 3-0 lead.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Aso told the Boston Gazette.
