Horncole Slugs Giants to 6-1 Win
|
A 4-RBI performance from designated hitter Carey Horncole, who is tied for 8th in the NL with a .354 batting average, led the San Francisco Giants to a win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-1. Curt Howland earned the win for San Francisco. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 11. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. The Giants, now 11-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Making an impact for the home team was Tom Best. In the bottom of the first, the 30-year old right fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 1-0, Giants.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Horncole told the San Francisco Daily News.
