Cardinals Take Tight Tilt, 4-3
|
The St. Louis Cardinals knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, at Busch Stadium. Armando Carbajal was a big reason St. Louis won. The first baseman was 2-3 with a home run. St. Louis reliever Casey Cogdill got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Chitoji Takemoto was tagged with the loss. Bryan Banana earned save number 5 this season.
Pat Sutton, who finished 5th in the NL in home runs with 37 last year, aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter went 2-3 with 2 singles.
"Enjoyed this one," Sutton told the St. Louis Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The victory makes St. Louis 7-8.
