Nationals Upend Phillies, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals did just enough to sneak past the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-3, at Citizens Bank Park. Washington pitcher Ragnar Danielsson, in particular, had a standout performance. Danielsson went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-2. David Sly was credited with the save for Washington, his 4th of the season.
Darren McCarty Jr. had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for Washington. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Washington in front, 4-2.
"Ragnar was Ragnar," said Nationals manager Mike Shore. "We know what we'll get whenever he takes the mound."
Washington has a mark of 8-11 after the win.
