Angels Earn 6-5 Win Against Orioles
|
California beat Baltimore at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to third baseman Preston Deakyne. He was 3 for 6 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. California reliever Dave Jackson got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Aldo Questi was tagged with the loss. California is off to a hot start at 15-7.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 17th inning, when California designated hitter Ruben Velasco, facing Jay Rapini, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Angels the 6-5 win.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Velasco.
