Rangers Sneak Past Athletics, 6-5
|
The Texas Rangers had to overcome a fine effort from Oakland pitcher Hunter Vanderhyden to grab a narrow 6-5 win at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Vanderhyden went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Isaburo Ishihara, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The loss puts Oakland at 13-11.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the tenth. With Texas trailing 5-4, Vince Ealy hit a cutter from Germano Nunes to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Rangers had a walk-off win.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ealy told the Texas Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
