7-1 Loss to Giants Extends Washington Losing Streak
|
San Francisco starter Curt Howland pitched well against the Washington Nationals at AT&T Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-1. Howland went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-0. For the Nationals, the loss makes their record 11-17.
The Giants got an important contribution from second baseman Sean Zielinski, who in the bottom of the third hit a 0-1 fastball into center for a solo home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 2-0.
Howland said his team "played with focus."
