Fireflies Mathematically Out of Playoffs Monday, September 7th , 2048 Any hopes of a playoff berth for the Columbia Fireflies this season were already a long shot at best. But even the longshot hopes are now gone, as the team was officially eliminated from playoff contention today. The Fireflies have missed the playoffs 27 times in their 33 years as a Eastern League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 9th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2039.
