Wildcard Series Goes the Distance, Birmingham Prevails Friday, October 2nd , 2048 The sweet swing of Ruben Velasco Jr. has led his team through the Wildcard Series. The Birmingham Barons star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the Montgomery Biscuits to advance to the Division Championship. The Barons won the final game at Regions Field by a score of 2-1 and the series 2-1. "I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Velasco Jr.. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs." For the series, Velasco Jr. hit .364 with a .533 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
