It's been a year of triumph for veteran Valentin Laporte of the Akron RubberDucks as he hit his way to the 2048 American League Most Valuable Player Award.

The 35-year-old veteran compiled a .311 average and .410 on-base percentage by putting together 133 hits, 22 doubles, 5 triples, 18 home runs and 72 walks. He also scored 81 times and drove in 69 runs.

He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 30. Eddie Muniz of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Dalton Silveira of the Birmingham Barons finished third.
