5 Hits for Rawhide Burrows
Monday, December 30th , 2047
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Josh Burrows got his name recorded today, but the St. Lucie Mets picked up the win at Tradition Field, topping the Visalia Rawhide, 1-0.
"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Tyler Lyons. "We were lucky to come out ahead."
Burrows, who is tied for 9th in the B with a 1.095 OPS, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.
"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."
Josh Burrows doubled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, doubled in the 12th, doubled in the 14th, doubled in the 17th and walked in the 19th.
This season in 27 games, Burrows has hit at a .394 clip with 39 hits, 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
