Esteban Tosses Shutout Against Cedar Rapids
Monday, July 13th , 2048
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Jose Esteban of the Lake County Captains proved the point at Veterans Memorial Stadium today, holding the Cedar Rapids Kernels to 3 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Esteban made us look real bad today," Kernels manager Alex Garcia said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Esteban had 4 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Captains took the 2-0 win.
So far this year Esteban has no saves in no relief appearances with a 7-2 record and 2.94 ERA.
