Fredericks Rips 3 HR
Friday, July 24th , 2048
West Virginia Power left fielder Dave Fredericks sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Augusta GreenJackets, Fredericks told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Fredericks pushed the Power past the GreenJackets, 12-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Fredericks told reporters after the game.
Dave Fredericks grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Justin Tidwell in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Wally Dethridge in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Hector Jimenez in the 6th.
In his stats this season, Fredericks has posted a batting average of .295 with 49 hits in 166 at-bats, 9 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has also scored 24 runs, walked 19 times and compiled a .379 OBP.
