TinCaps Heading to Conference Championship
Saturday, October 17th , 2048
Fort Wayne catcher Brian Klinkner couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Division Championship.
"It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Klinkner moments after his club eliminated the Binghamton Mets to advance to the Conference Championship.
Fort Wayne won the final game by a score of 9-5 at NYSEG Stadium and took the series 4-1.
"We won the series and that's the main thing," Klinkner said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted."
For the series, Klinkner hit .600 with a .636 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 7 runs.
"He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Binghamton manager George Pinkard.
The Conference Championship matchups and schedule will be announced after the Division Championship finishes.
