Cleary Gets 5 Hits Wednesday, July 29th , 2048 State College third baseman Tim Cleary had a big day at Volcanoes Stadium today against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-7 and led the Spikes to a 32-3 triumph over Salem-Keizer. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Cleary said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Tim Cleary grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far in 2048 Cleary is batting .318 with 5 home runs, 35 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 170 at-bats and a .400 OBP. |
