Connecticut Bats Silenced by Cervantes
Saturday, August 8th , 2048
Magic was in the air and on the mound at Nat Bailey Stadium today as Danny Cervantes held the Connecticut Tigers spellbound in his 4-0 shutout victory. The Vancouver Canadians pitcher went the distance, rang up 14 strikeouts, walked 1 and held the Tigers to 1 hit to garner the win.
"He just had us in his thrall," Connecticut manager Andy Garcia said later. "We couldn't put anything together against him."
In 26 relief appearances this season, Cervantes has 12 saves. He has 5 wins and 1 loss, 0.91 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 59.1 innings.
