Tigers Shut Out Scrappers, Grossfeld Winner
Sunday, August 16th , 2048
Alan Grossfeld put a hex on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in a sparkling 6-0 shutout performance, mesmerizing them on a 3-hit gem.
"I felt good physically," he said after the game. "Everything's comfortable. You should pitch well when that's the case."
The Scrappers were anything but comfortable against the 25-year-old Connecticut Tigers hurler, who fanned 8 and gave up 3 walks.
"Grossfeld used his changeup very well, very effectively," said opposing manager Odubel Herrera. "He threw it in hitter's counts."
Presently Grossfeld has a 10-9 mark in 24 starts with a 3.62 ERA. He has given up 152 hits in 159 innings, struck out 154 and issued 58 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .250 batting average against him.
