League Punishes Pair for Fighting Friday, August 21st , 2048 Yesterday at Volcanoes Stadium Jaime Rios and Francisco Landin got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and Eugene Emeralds. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Rios will have to sit out 4 while Landin would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Rios is hitting .211 this year with 1 home run and 4 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .308, 7 walks and scored 4 times. During this season he has made 68 relief appearances, earning a 2-5 record with no saves. In 91.1 innings Landin has struck out 70 with a 8.97 ERA. |
