Cabrera Pitches Indians to 6-0 Win
Tuesday, September 15th , 2048
The Staten Island Yankees had no answer today for Spokane Indians pitcher Javier Cabrera. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 6-0. Staten Island managed only 5 hits off Cabrera, who had 9 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Cabrera got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Indians fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
Cabrera's record this season is 19-and-3 with no saves and a 2.65 ERA. He has given up 163 hits in 180 innings with 181 strikeouts.
