Hits Blitz for Blue Jays Kubo Sunday, September 6th , 2048 Akira Kubo roughed up Burlington Royals pitching in a big way at Burlington Athletic Stadium today, leading the Bluefield to a 20-2 win. With his parents and family watching from the stands, the 21-year-old second baseman put on a magnificent show, hitting for the cycle -- collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. "It was a good day for that to happen," a beaming Kubo said after the game. "I really got some good looks and delivered. Sometimes you're just on." He finished his historic day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Akira Kubo walked in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Brett Reed in the 6th, hit a three-run double in the 6th and singled in the 7th. Presently Kubo is hitting .306 with 13 home runs and 44 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 59 times. |
