Four-bagger Feast: Grubbs Slugs 3 for Great Falls
Tuesday, September 15th , 2048
Great Falls Voyagers second baseman Billy Grubbs sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Pulaski Yankees, Grubbs told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Grubbs pushed the Voyagers past the Yankees, 9-1. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Grubbs told reporters after the game.
Billy Grubbs hit a two-run home run off Alex Roman in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Yoshida Abe in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Eric Patrick in the 7th.
This year Grubbs is batting .303 with 120 hits and 54 home runs. He has scored 107 times and has batted in 122 runs.
