Helena's Diaz Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Sunday, October 18th , 2048 It was high-fives all around for Lorenzo Diaz at Kindrick Legion Field today. He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the Grand Junction Rockies. Diaz smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 37-0 win. "Lorenzo was hitting everything," said Brewers manager Bret Montgomery. "It really was a special game for him." In the opposing dugout, Rockies manager Ed Corona told BNN beat writers that Diaz "ambushed" the club. "Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," the skipper said. "Hopefully, Diaz oversleeps next time." Lorenzo Diaz walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Xavier Williams in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Omar Samario in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 8th. This season Diaz is batting .357 with 80 hits, 32 home runs, 96 RBIs, 50 walks, .477 OBP and has scored 89 runs. He has played in 65 games. |
