What does it take to win the Outstanding Pitcher Award?

Just ask Jose Cepero of the Texas (APP) Rangers -- the latest American League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner.

"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Outstanding Pitcher Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."

The Rangers pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 22 games and losing only 2. In 30 starts, Cepero registered a 2.47 ERA and limited other clubs to a .183 batting average. He fanned 265 in 182 innings and issued 44 walks.

He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 30. Rick Madden of the Texas (APP) Rangers finished second in voting with 7 first place votes, while Bobby Scott of the Texas (APP) Rangers finished third with 5 first place votes.
