Hensley Crashes 3 HR Against San Diego
Friday, September 11th , 2048
His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Josh Hensley swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Petco Park, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the San Diego Padres were better.
The Philadelphia Phillies couldn't capitalize on the big game from Hensley and dropped the contest 8-5.
The mood in the Phillies clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Padres to spoil the day for Hensley.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Philadelphia manager Paul Husch said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Hensley collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Philadelphia third baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
Josh Hensley hit a two-run home run off Adam Thompson in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Adam Thompson in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Raul Almonte in the 8th.
For the season, Hensley is hitting at a .254 clip with 28 home runs, 77 RBIs and has scored 64 runs. He has 118 hits, 31 walks and a .305 on-base percentage.
