Wildcard Series Goes the Distance, Minnesota Prevails
Thursday, October 8th , 2048
Major League Baseball fans were certainly not disappointed with this American League Wildcard Series.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Minnesota Twins prevailing over the California Angels to advance to the Division Series.
Minnesota won the final game by a score of 5-4 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim and that sealed the series 2-1.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said first baseman Miguel Diaz, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Diaz hit .462 with a .533 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Minnesota Twins will play against the Chicago White Sox in the next round. Chicago had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
