Reyes Pitches 18-0 Shutout for Roswell
Wednesday, August 19th , 2048
Before the game, Elias Reyes said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Denver Stadium, the Invaders pitcher whitewashed the Colorado Avalanche 18-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Reyes said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my sinker even when I was behind in the count."
The Roswell starter held Colorado scoreless, giving up 5 hits while registering 11 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Avalanche manager Norman Veldwijk said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
Thus far this season, Reyes has tossed 104.2 innings in 18 starts, fanned 129 batters, walked 53 and put up a 4.04 ERA with 2 wins and 11 losses.
