McClung 5-for-5 for Joplin Sunday, September 13th , 2048 Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Joplin's 13-4 win over Colorado today, first baseman Mike McClung was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Denver Stadium. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," McClung said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close." Mike McClung hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and hit a three-run home run off Bryce Hickman in the 9th. This season McClung is batting .304 with 89 hits, 13 home runs, 41 RBIs, 18 walks, .376 OBP and has scored 41 runs. He has played in 92 games. |
