What does it take to win the Pitcher of the Year Award?

Just ask Oliver Troiano of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs -- the latest Eastern League Pitcher of the Year Award winner.

"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Pitcher of the Year Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."

The Blue Crabs pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 8 games and losing only 9. In 21 starts, Troiano registered a 1.34 ERA and limited other clubs to a .169 batting average. He fanned 236 in 174.1 innings and issued 14 walks.

He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Brian Waldrip of the Winnipeg Goldeyes finished second in voting, while J.T. Ready of the Hamilton Cardinals finished third.
