Kirchmann Shines, But Reds Fall Short
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Joseph Kirchmann, the Cincinnati Reds lost to the Chicago Cubs, 7-5. Kirchmann went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Chicago raised its record to 19-14 with the win.

Chicago relied on the bat of Kevin Norton to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 7-4. For the game, Norton had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"This team is real focused right now," said Chicago manager Mergatroid Skittle.
