Yankees Top Expos, 6-5
|
No one was more impactful than Mukhtar Wa'il in the 6-5 New York win over Montreal. Wa'il, who leads the AL in triples with 5, went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New York reliever Julio Gonzalez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Tris Ross was tagged with the loss. Brad Kramer closed it out for his 1st save.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the seventh when Wa'il, who leads the AL in triples with 5, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Yankees into the lead, 6-5.
"Mukhtar is still learning," said Yankees manager Vince Deyzel. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Yankees, with just their 11th win so far in 2049, have yet to catch fire.
