Big Game from Casas Not Enough, Guardians Lose
|
The Cleveland Guardians got a superb performance from designated hitter David Casas. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oakland. The Athletics won the game, 11-8. Casas slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Oakland reliever Elijah Everett was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Ben Sheets. Charlie Shook was credited with the save for Oakland, his 9th of the season.
Jeff Luvisi went 1-4 with a walk for Oakland. The 29-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ben Sheets. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Luvisi told the Oakland Today.
The win gives Oakland a season record of 20-17.
