Yankees Squelch Nationals Offense in Shutout Win
|
New York rode a fine outing from starter Andres Galindo to victory over the Washington Nationals at Yankee Stadium. The final score was 6-0. Galindo, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 4 walks. The last-place Yankees are now 13-22, the Nationals 18-19.
Jeckel Hester, who finished 2nd in the NL in stolen bases with 49 in 2046, contributed to the New York win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Hester told the New York Chronicle.
