Braves Stymie Washington, Take 6-1 Win
|
The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Atlanta Braves racked up a win at Turner Field, bumping off the Washington Nationals, 6-1. Curt Stevens, who started for Atlanta, pitched effectively for his team. Stevens, now 7-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Alard Kraaijeveld finished the game for Atlanta and earned his 1st save.
Zheng-ze King, the Atlanta designated hitter, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-1, Braves. For the game, King was 1-3 with a walk.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," King told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The National League East Division-leading Braves are 34-14.
