Chang Rips South Bend for 5 Hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Greensboro's 22-3 victory over the South Bend Cubs, shortstop Dong-u Chang told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Midwest League-level is really something special."
The 22-year-old player earned his accolades today at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Cubs.
"His swing is getting there," said Grasshoppers skipper Julio Pina, who spoke glowingly of Chang after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Dong-u did that to perfection today."
Dong-u Chang hit a two-run single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
Chang has collected 45 hits for the Grasshoppers this year, 3 of them home runs. He has also netted 24 RBIs and scored 20 runs while batting .319.
