Phillies Handle Cubs, 7-4
|
Citizens Bank Park was the site for National League action featuring the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-4, at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia first baseman Quintin Parker had an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Sean Hill, the winner, improved to 3-4. He held the Cubs to 4 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Omar Orosco earned the save, his 14th, for the Phillies.
Parker had a timely hit for Philadelphia in the bottom of the sixth. With Chicago trailing 4-3, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 6-4, Philadelphia.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Parker said (again).
Philadelphia occupies 4th place in the National League East Division at 23-35.
