Expos Defeat Guardians, 2-1
|
Montreal Expos starter Brian White turned in a top-notch performance against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The result was a win for the Expos, 2-1. White, now 6-2, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Jakub Kvacek converted his 17th save in 19 tries.
Montreal used a timely hit from Tommie Eaton to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Expos ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said White.
With the win, Montreal pushed its record to 35-24.
