Hit Parade: Mahon Pops 5 Hits
|
University of California first baseman Nate Mahon could do no wrong in today's 13-10 win over the Nittany Lions as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Nittany Lions skipper Brandon Wagner said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Mahon agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Nate Mahon singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Preki Nedic in the 9th, singled in the 11th and walked in the 13th.
This year Mahon is hitting .180 with 1 home run and 8 RBIs in 14 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .263 with 6 walks and 5 runs scored.
