Reds Fall Short, 3-2, at St. Louis
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Cardinals beat the Reds.
The St. Louis Cardinals had to overcome a fine performance from Cincinnati pitcher Antonio Diaz to grab a 3-2 win at Busch Stadium. Diaz allowed 3 runs over 8 innings. Getting the save was John Fisher, his 2nd.
Ichiro Toyota went 1-2 with a walk for St. Louis. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Antonio Diaz. It was his 25th RBI of the season.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Toyota after the game.
St. Louis is second in the National League Central Division with a record of 40-37.
