Goof Heroics Not Enough in 6-5 Loss to Baltimore
|
Floyd-William Goof did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Atlanta Braves from losing, 6-5, to the Baltimore Orioles at Turner Field. Goof went 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Douglas ten Pas got the win, improving to 6-5. He held the Braves to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Jose Lara earned save number 2 this season.
Baltimore used a well-timed hit by Tylor Cyr to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Cyr, "and go after the next one."
The win makes Baltimore 34-44.
